To: All candidates for Fall Inductions I remember how anxious I was as my Ordeal approached, and how many questions I had in my mind. I want to put you at ease, and to try to help you by giving you the answers to some frequently asked questions. You have my phone number: please feel free to call me if you have any questions. 1. What is going to happen during the Ordeal? I can not tell you details of the weekend, but we can tell you that most people that go through the Ordeal look back on it as a time of building friendships and of inner personal growth. Nothing bad is going to happen to you. 2. When do I need to be at Spring Inductions? You can begin to arrive at Camp Durant on Friday afternoon Sept 14, 2001 starting at 5:00 p.m., but I would say most people are there by 6:30 p.m., or soon thereafter. You must be there before dusk. Remember to eat before you arrive! 3. What do I need to bring. * Current Class 1 Physical (under 40 years old) or Class 3 Physical (40 or over) (Required!) * A complete Scout uniform (Class A) * Sleeping bag * Ground cloth (or sheet of plastic to put under your sleeping bag) * Work clothes * Work gloves * Flashlight * Poncho * Tent * Personal Hygiene kit (Toothbrush, wash cloth, soap, etc.) * Towel * Extra underwear and socks * Other incidentals you need for overnight camping 4. How much does it cost? The fee is $45.00, which includes your registration fee, all your food for the weekend, an event patch, a Lodge Ordeal pocket flap, an OA handbook, and an Ordeal sash. 5. What if I have special needs, like a medical condition or disability or if I must eat special foods? We are certainly able to make provision for you, but you should contact us as soon as possible to give us an opportunity to react. For medications, simply bring any medications you require, with instructions for the staff. Whatever your special need, please do not wait until the last minute, because everyone is always extremely busy as the Ordeal approaches. 6. When is it over? The weekend will be over after Chapel service on Sunday morning. This is usually about 9:00 a.m. LDS members, and others with similar obligations may leave Saturday night after the Ceremony (usually around 10:00 p.m.). 7. What Chapter am I going to be in? Everyone in Sequoyah District will be in Neusalufta Chapter. Again, I want to offer my congratulations to you on your election to Candidacy in the Order. This reflects honor on your efforts to date as a Scout. I am looking forward to personally welcoming each of you into the Order at the conclusion of your Ordeal.
