Neusalufta Chapter held its first annual Chapter Leadership training seminar at the Occoneechee Council Scout Office on Saturday, April 1st. A longtime dream of Chapter Chief Bruce McLawhorn, the pieces finally fell into place this year during Bruce's third term as Chief.  

Attending the event were Bruce M, Laurence C, Anthony Y, Michael H, Ricky T, Mario G, David L, Robert M, Chris O, Art F, Carl McLawhorn, Jerry B and Stan C. from Neusalufta Chapter, and  Daniel W and Luke W as observers from Natsihi chapter. Jerry B. was the host for the day.

The 7-hour seminar included in-depth Elangomat training, leadership training, training in chapter operations, and an informative discussion of Grass dance and Grass dance clothing construction. Elangomats also got a chance to rehearse their new roles in the Ordeal Ceremony. A Chapter Plan book  was provided to all attendees. These plan books include the Chapter Elangomat Handbook and worksheets, Elangomat Award forms, Chapter history, Guide for Officers and Advisers, the Chapter Officer's Guide, relevant portions of the Lodge plan book, a calendar of events, 'Awake My Friends' (a sourcebook for Ceremonialists), and the Inductions Management Guide. Lunch consisted of pizza and soft drinks, and was enjoyed by all... even those who had spent the morning eating the donuts and candy bars which were snuck in by Carl McLawhorn. All in attendance agreed this was a superior event.
